Traditionally, a website is a tool—a means to deliver information and value. But the platforms in this selection are different: weird, sometimes inconvenient or pointless. Who makes them? Often experienced developers with solid portfolios. Sometimes it’s beginners learning to code. Why? If a project takes off, it can be monetized through ads or an app. Some are made just for fun or to organize unusual hobbies. Others are created to compete with fellow developers.
