ChatGPT is a big AI model, trained on a huge amount of text data. It uses a deep learning algorithm to generate answers to questions posed or to continue phrases started by the user.

ChatGPT uses an approach called "teacherless learning." The model is trained on a large set of textual data, using techniques that allow it to "find" patterns in that data by itself. The model can then be used to generate text in response to a given question.

ChatGPT can also be used for other tasks, such as summarizing text, generating text based on a given context, and more.

This explanation is written by ChatGPT itself. Not bad? Quite.

You just ask a task or question and get an answer. Not always the one you expect. But the simpler the question, the more accurate the answer. The novelty has already taken over the world - everyone is trying to break the logic of the robot or generate their own meme.

And someone is already actively using this thing in their work. And web design is no exception.

How ChatGPT is useful for the designer

A web designer can use ChatGPT to improve their work, speed up or simplify some processes, and improve the quality of their projects. Here are a few ways to use Chat in web design.

Helping you create content

ChatGPT can help a web designer create content of all types. It knows how to generate text, headlines, descriptions and other content elements.

To be honest, ChatGPT can't yet fully replace a competent writer. But all those blocks where you would have previously inserted "Lorem ipsum..." can now look not just okay, but even decent. Chat will offer quite a good "fish", and the specialist or the customer will be left to edit and supplement it.

Don't rely on chat for naming and slogans. Chat won't write a good first screen, or any other important text. But it can sketch out ideas. Trust him not to do the most responsible tasks. Ask him to generate text for the Success page or the Q&A section. You'll need to edit them, but it's still easier than writing from scratch.

In general, it is not bad with mediocre SEO-texts. True, today almost no one uses text for the sake of text with the keys, this is a past age. But if you still need - give the chat topic, keywords, and specify the volume. He will write quite coherent and unique.

Letters, responses to the exchange

Business correspondence is a great use of chat. We always say that the response on the exchange should be personalized, no templates. But it's also sometimes tedious and time-consuming to write unique letters to everyone. Leave it to the chat room! Give it input, it will write a beautiful response. Edit it to your style and requirements - it will be very good and each time with a personal touch.

The more input you give, the more accurate the answer will be. You can create a template for yourself, in which you specify the tone of voice and the specifics of pitch. You just add the problem to this template and write to the chat. It will give you an answer, which you can forward to the person you're chatting with.

Working off objections

A potential customer writes you "Expensive". Sometimes you feel like answering something harsh. But you can argue nicely and not waste your nerves. Write a chat request like this:

"Refute the thesis: the services of a web designer is too expensive"

Add some details if you want. The bot will give you a nice-looking response, which you can send to the customer. It will tell you what the price is and why it's worth it.

It works the same way with other objections. You don't have to waste time discussing the same questions, delegating that to the chat.

Help with concept development

ChatGPT can provide ideas and recommendations for color schemes, fonts, layouts and other design elements. Have a client recommendation or brand book? Ask ChatGPT to sketch out ideas. For example:

Similarly with fonts - ask for a few solutions. Then pick a couple of good ones and ask for more similar variations. In short, you don't like it when a client asks you to "play with fonts," do you? So give it to the bot. And the customer is happy, and you do not strain too much.

You can explain the concept, write about the direction, the features of CA. The chat will take that into account when choosing your answer.

Ask your CA a question.

As artificial intelligence, ChatGPT doesn't have the ability to browse and rate websites on its own. But it can answer questions.

ChatGPT can "pretend" to be a representative of your target audience. That's handy. Ask questions about preferences, obstacles, wishes. Ask what he or she would pay attention to when buying/choosing a product, what would be a block at checkout.

Chat may well provide insights into user behavior and make recommendations to improve the interface and navigation.

Check yourself. You can ask ChatGPT a set of questions that site visitors usually ask and see how the chat responds. If ChatGPT's answers don't meet your expectations, then draw conclusions about what you need to improve on the site.

Bot development

It is already possible to connect ChatGPT to e-mail. It will generate responses to emails, and the user has only to check the answer and send it. Most likely, it will soon be possible to set up automatic sending. Agree, it's pretty cool to use such a move in your products to handle orders, consult on products and services, etc. But for now, ChatGPT can't yet be called an appropriate and reliable tool for automatic communication with consumers, because it can generate inappropriate or inappropriate responses. Therefore, there is a need for human control.

Texts in English

Little knowledge of foreign languages, but want to take foreign orders? A translator like DeepL helps a lot, but it only translates the text, and the chat room can write it for you. Isn't that cool? Just give the task.

This applies to texts in website blocks and banners as well as acceptable in communication with customers.

Disadvantages and peculiarities

Artificial intelligence in general is a very promising technology that sometimes makes you scared. Won't the machine drive us out of the market? It really can do a lot.

But it's too early to be afraid. You should understand that ChatGPT is a tool, not a full-fledged employee. And you have to use it properly to get good results. Here are some features that are important to keep in mind:

Getting the question right

It's a machine; it's hard to understand context and motivation. It's important to ask the question with all the introductions and without possible ambiguities. If you have experience forming a TOR for a specialist, it helps. But you need to think through the text even more carefully. In principle, it will become clear when you use it. Most likely you will have to ask the same question over and over again, changing the wording to get the right answer.

Limitations of the knowledge base

Chat relies on its database to answer your queries, which means that if the question goes beyond that knowledge base, the model may not have enough information to give an accurate answer.

Chat is not aware of what happened yesterday. And in general may not know important details in different directions -- an answer without that cannot be considered complete and unbiased.

One needs to understand the topic

This is the essential prerequisite! Chat is the sum total of the knowledge of what is on the web. But we know you can't blindly trust the majority. You still have to check what he wrote there. Use the results, but don't act unconditionally trusting the bot.

What the chat room gives you is that it makes it easier to search. You can use the bot's response instead of a dozen sources from a search engine result. It saves time if you need to get an average answer. But you still have to analyze the information, use critical thinking, and double-check.

So if you're a complete beginner, you can't make a good website with just chat. Because you can't assess the quality of the answer. Only experience and professionalism will help here.

How do you learn to understand a topic and become a cool expert? You know. Take the "UX/UI Legend" online course. There's a lot of interesting stuff there, check out the program in detail.
